Certain currently enrolled students may be eligible to apply for our Debbie Merki Scholarship Fund if it at anytime  extenuating circumstances affect the ability for a family to pay tuition. The Debbie Merki Scholarship Fund was established to help bridge short term gaps in a family's ability to pay their child's tuition. 

About The Founders & Supporters:

The Debbie Merki Scholarship Fund was established in 2016 by family and friends of Debbie Merki after she passed away while serving on our Governing Board. The fund is supported by donations in her honor and by her husband, Mark Marki and his firm, Merki & Associates.

Debbie Merki was born March 5th, 1957, in Grand Saline, Texas, and grew up in Garland, Texas. Debbie graduated from South Garland High School with the class of 1975.  Debbie received her Bachelors in Education in 1983 and Masters in Education in 1986 from NTSU (now known as the University of North Texas).

Debbie was a passionate advocate of children and taught in Little Elm ISD and Denton ISD.  She was a Principal in Denton ISD, Carrollton-Farmer’s Branch ISD, and Northwest ISD.  She retired from education after 33 years. 

 

Her leadership impacted the lives of thousands of children and teachers.  She was best known for inspiring teachers to work for the betterment of children in all aspects – instructionally, socially, and behaviorally.  She was truly committed to helping children.

Eligibility:

In order to apply for our scholarship, students must be currently enrolled in our program for at least 90 days.

Sudden & Unforseen Extenuating Circumstances must be preventing the family from actively paying tuition.

Circumstances must be short-term

Communication must be made with Executive Director:

Families must contact Executive Director as soon as possible when families are unable to pay tuition and wish to apply for the scholarship. 

Attempts to arrange a payment plan must be made before family will be eligible to apply for short term scholarship award.

Governing Board of Directors will make determination of funds after reviewing completed application.
